justaphageI am here, yeah. Been feeling pretty stressed about all the pressure to be active in like 17 different places and so kinda frozen up a bit. No one person is telling me to be everywhere, so much as different people are telling me different things and I have no idea what's gonna work out so how do I choose?
And I know, ultimately posts like this don't actually grow the site into the thing I want it to be. I wish I had something creative to post...I've been feeling that way about pillowfort for months. But I've not been able to make things for ages and it's coming down on me hard right now. I want to grow things but I have nothing to contribute.
I know there are others out there probably feeling this way too, so just thought I'd say it, if it makes anyone feel better, maybe just me. Gonna put this exact thing on Pillowfort cause that's what I can manage.

I think one of the biggest disservices tumblr did us as a fandom was creating this situation where engagement is either almost entirely passive (liking/reblogging) or entirely creative (writing meta, making gifsets, etc), without a lot of middle ground like chatting/commenting. And in a way that passive engagement is great for those days when you just want to chill and see what's going on, but it also makes it really hard to break into the collaborative, supportive, creativity-inspiring vibe that comes from being able to interact with your community in a reciprocal and positive way.
I'm hoping that this break from tumblr will help us get back to the more lj/dw-style of fandom (whether it actually occurs here on dw or somewhere else), where we encourage each other just by being a community, rather than feeling pressured to Create to get engagement.
